Frequently asked questions
Do we have to leave our current practice management system?
No. dentorb is designed to work alongside your PMS — Dentally first, with SOE/EXACT and R4 on the roadmap. We replace the tools around the PMS (front desk, growth, comms, team ops, reporting), not the clinical record itself.
How does the Simple Switch from Denplan actually work?
We map your current plans 1:1, normalise the patient list, and use GoCardless's mandate switching API to move active Direct Debits in bulk — patients receive a single 'your DD is moving to <Practice Name>' notification, no re-paperwork. We run a ~4-week parallel period with your incumbent before cut-over. Total elapsed time is around 60 days, of which roughly 3 hours of practice time. Full process in our membership-plans spec.
Are dentorb really cheaper than Denplan?
On the admin fee, yes — our Phase-1 launch target is £0.95 per plan patient per month, against typical Denplan all-in costs of ~£2.50–£4.00+ depending on practice size and bundle. The biggest single difference is that we don't bundle insurance underwriting into the admin fee; if you want dental injury / emergency cover, it's offered at cost (~£1.50–£2.00) via an FCA-authorised partner and itemised separately. What about the insurance my Denplan patients have today?
We don't underwrite insurance ourselves — we partner with an FCA-authorised dental injury / emergency cover provider and pass the premium through at cost. Patients can opt in or out per plan. If your patients want to keep equivalent cover, we set it up as part of onboarding so the change is invisible to them.
Will I lose marketing support by switching?
You'll lose the bundled-marketing-fund line item — and you won't miss it, because the dentorb platform replaces it with native AI lead capture, treatment funnels, web chat, recall sequences and a patient portal. If you want done-for-you marketing services on top, our managed Growth team is a separate, transparent line item.
